- Stop and verify on a channel you trust.
- Never pay with gift cards, a wire, cryptocurrency, or a cryptocurrency ATM because someone told you to.
- Do not open links from unexpected texts or emails.
- Never share codes, passwords, or a recovery phrase.
- Hang up and call the number on your card.
- Use a family code word.
- Banks and the government never ask you to move money to protect it.
- Anyone offering to recover lost money for a fee is a scam.
